Soul mates – Part V: A mathematical study of how many soul mates you have on this earth

This is my last post on the Soul Mates Research. I had no idea of soul mate before starting of this research and now I am back to the state where I was. I explain why!

What is soul mate? – The people around say there is one soul which was created for you.

If you are the one thinking the same, stop it!

If you have one soul for you on the earth which is same as like yours, then the 50% of the people on the earth would be the soul mates of the other  50%, which seems to be a funny idea.

“So, what I have understood from my studies is that two souls can be considered as soul mates if they together want to achieve/fulfill each other’s purpose on the earth.”

The total no of people on the earth while I write this document is 7,300,757,312.

As stated by United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Population Division and the world population is projected to reach 7.325 billion in July 2015.

Males and Females percentage is 50.4% and 49.6% respectively.

None of the religion talk about soul mates, rather they give more importance to the single soul. All of them try to elevate the each soul to the next level and give them a better place on the earth.

World mythologies , yes they talk a lot about the soul mates as I described in the Part II of this series.

Psychologists they just give opinions  based on the surveys, which is basically the idea of the people.

There is no soul which exactly same as you or me, but there might be a 99.99% matching soul. Though this soul is matching yours , it might not help you achieve your purpose.

Out of 7,300,757,312 souls, that is 1.369720916974373e-8 % or 0.00000001369720916974373% is the percentage of people on the earth whom you are looking for. Still do you believe that you can meet that person?

But we can make some calculation to find out the number of soul mates for each soul on the earth. Remember , each soul can have many soul mates, not only one. If you believe in only one soul mate you are with the above percentage of people and don’t move on, you are free to go and search for that 0.00000001369720916974373% of people on the earth which I believe impossible on this birth.

There are many hypothesis to calculate the best match for your soul, but they relate to love. Soul mates not necessarily to be in romantic relationship that is the reason why I don’t want to use those hypotheses here.

Let us assume that each soul mate shares  some preferences / characters common to its soul mate.

  1. You want to meet every person for at least 1 seconds to decide if he/she is your soul mate.

Totally you need 7,300,757,312 seconds which is 231.35197997422 years on the earth.

Do you think you can live 231 years on the earth?

Check your average age of your country and let’s limit the soul mate calculation within your age limit.

Life expectancy of the world population varies from  85  years to  38 years.

Considering  that you live to the max age of 85 years,

231 years will be split into 231/85 =  2.717647058823529 times  where the whole population also can be split into 2.717647058823529 times.

So you will be able to meet only 7,300,757,312/2.717647058823529  =  2686425850 people on the earth in the 85 years of your life.

2686425850 people into seconds into years  =  85 Years! , the highest life expectancy of the people on the earth!

  1. To further filter the people to meet your soul mate, Let us do this way,

You can define the number of characters/preferences  you expect in your soul mate.

Preferences p  =  It might be 1,2,3,4,……n  of characters/preferences.

You have p no of characters and you expect ‘k’ no people.

No of people matching your preferences  =  k

p = no of preferences, k = no of people who meet your demands

Assuming all the people have the same no of preferences, we have to find out a solution to match the demands to each other and find out the best matches.

Using Binary logarithm of mathematics, where we assume the people in 2 dimensional array, we can find out the number of matching soul mates ,

: n+k*n = n*log2(k*n)

n = 2686425850 , no of people you have to meet in the 85 years of your life.

Solving this equation gives the value of ‘k’ as 35.4716 which can be taken as whole value of 35!

So you have 35 soul mates on the earth which can you meet in 85 years among the 2686425850 people.

We considered people as two dimensional data because each person has their own no of preferences and the person who seeking soul mate has his own set of preference which has to be compared against each person in 2686425850.

There are lot of assumptions in the solution! So it’s up to you accept it. Will catch you with some other new topic soon!

      1. Na an overdose of maths! 😦 . I am offically working now so I guess that explains my MIA 😛 . However hard I try to find time for my blog, I end up writing crappy stuff.. I’m just struggling a bit here and missing it too. Anyways so you are still confused eh? Bad 😦

      2. I am not confused 🙂 I have 35 mates. so I am very happy at my own maths 🙂 some found 627 which looks weird for me..just because I am geek and have lot of algorithms to compare data..I just used this to get my digit, looks pretty good, just simple 35 soul mates are available on the earth! 😛 confused about ? I don’t get you fully

      3. Okok. I got from some live website..the population data..ok 😛 it’s just the beginning and a funny idea. some might inspired to start off a project on this topic.

  1. Amazing work, and thank you for using mathematics to show how full of crap we are. I just had a thought, before reading this post, that the current system of dating is based on pride and lust. If only we knew that the reason we’re going to be miserable in relationships is that we’re trying to reach a statistical goal that’s unattainable. Can i borrow your post for my blog? I have something related coming up later this month, and I would love to make a word cloud and repost it as a guest post. Will you let me? Of course, I’ll link back to your blog and the previous soul mates posts. I want my readers to see this.

    1. My Pleasure Dear Biscuit. You can happily repost them, I was wondered how can I apply the Binary Algorithm which we use in Computing techniques to filter the data, it still holds good here too, Though I am not a scientist, at least I can use my engineering knowledge here, surely we gonna meet very very very , negligible no of people on the earth, then why we should we bothered about the soul mates.. thanks for the help, you can use it with pleasure! Thanks

      1. Thank you so much. I love how your engineering brain thinks. If only we could all be this rational when it comes to these choices, we would all be happier people. Doing the best we can with what’s in front of us seems like a sensible plan. SB.

  2. I must have stopped reading at the first warning, I guess.. I read it and here’s a little opinion of mine..

There are few things in the world to be analysed and understood, whereas this is one of those things to be felt to understand..

You completely lost me when the digits crossed thousands and I do not wish to complicate my simple heart with complex algorithms.. 😉

Anyway I could feel that you went to great depths to unearth all these facts and blog it.. Salute for the effort..

Next time wrap around a prettier gift pack to reach dumb people like me.. 😉

    1. I hope this is my last post and I am pretty well understood about soul mate, so I think this is my last post in this topic. I won’t be making so much effort on this. Already published 5 series on this topic.
Still you feel can write more? I did analysed from all perspectives, though it’s complex mathematics, still it’s involved with human feelings of meeting each one per second to gaze at each other. I think this is the difference from other algorithms I read!

      1. Everyone has their own way of understanding things at their own pace..

My way of understanding what water tastes like, is to actually taste it.. No amount of words could get that right to me..

You have done a pretty good job, but I’m not in the position to appreciate it.. Excuse my dumbness.. 😦

      2. Nope, don’t ask excuse 😛 atleast we can bring dwon the data to make a comfortable zone to get the best match out of it. Thanks for the comment 😛

    1. 🙂 I hope, this is a complex idea but I believe difficult to find out the soul mate among billion people. You are very true that not possible in 85 years though we spend 1 second per person to find our if they are our soul mate. At least I found some logic myself 😛

  5. Wonderful research work done. So, I am no wrong here. I believe more in Science and Maths. I don’t believe in soulmates. At least that’s what I tell myself. I guess I should say I don’t believe that you grow up and meet someone you fall madly in love with because they are your soulmate and you live happily ever after. That doesn’t happen. That’s not reality.
What I do believe about soulmates is that while they may exist, they sometimes exist in ways we never thought possible or were ever taught could be possible. Someone enters your life and something changes. It may be unnoticeable at first, but it just changes. This person could be a sibling, a parent, a close friend, or a significant other. They don’t have to be romantically involved with you to connect with you on a level that some would define as a “soulmate”.
They make you a better person. They help you understand yourself just a little better. They bring happiness where there was once sorrow. They bring the best out of you. They do all this without you taking notice. There is a connection that is electrifying and magnetic but so natural that you don’t know how it even began. Harmony at its finest.
And sometimes your soulmate is someone that could potentially be romantically involved with you. However, one of the hardest things to accept is that we have soulmates that we wish we could end up with but we know we never will.
That spark that they ignited in you may not have turned into the big flame you had hoped it would be, but it will eternally be whispering in your heart.

  6. That’s an interesting approach to soulmates I must say! What if your soulmate walked right past you when you were busy calculating all of this? 😉
Glad to meet you though. Keep writing.

  7. I remember this post. I do not believe in the concept of soulmates but most people I meet, do. I think that this idea keeps people away from satisfying or fulfilling partnerships with potentially wonderful partners. We are fixated on the person or personality and what ego boosts we’ll get from convincing someone to choose us instead of focusing on the outcome, which is a satisfying relationship that suits where we are at any given point in our lives.

  8. WOW! First off, I was NEVER good in math and those numbers left my ADD to go out of control 🙂
Secondly, your post comes at a time were I have been doing so much reading on twin flames, soul mates and karmic energy. I was married for 19 years and knew at year 4 this was not the person for me, but with kids, life and living in fear of what to do, I stayed and tried to make it the best. Fast forward to almost 2 years ago, where I finally had the guts to say I am done. To today, where I am living a happy life. I am almost 46 and since I can remember as a little girl, I always believed there was ONE person out in the world who would understand me, love me, respect me, support me, etc… I believe you can have more than one soul mates, because they are not all going to be romantic.. I know I have met one as a romantic partner, but we are no longer together, I do believe people come in and out of your life for a reason, to teach you, show you, and make you grow as a human being. I do believe we already have our life mapped out before we are born, like a contract that we signed up for. Some may never get on their path and some will. I know I am on mine and I can see how different life is when you are. Will I find my one? I believe so, but I also believe in timing and right now, it is not my time. Thanks for the insight and a different view on this subject. I totally find this topic fascinating for some reason, maybe I am just a dreamer! 🙂
